AiF insight | Will Fed cut interest rates this year?

FED

The two-day Federal Reserve meeting concluded with no change in interest rates. Media reports suggest there are plans for three rate cuts this year, possibly starting as early as June. But can this be trusted? What exactly are the criteria for the Fed to cut rates?

AiF does not speculate on whether or when rate cuts will occur. Our perspective is that the Fed's interest rate hikes aim to deflate the real estate bubble. So, whether the Fed will cut rates depends on whether it has achieved its goal of curbing the real estate bubble.

If the goal has been achieved, the Fed will consider rate cuts. If not, we do not believe the Fed will cut rates.

The Reuters article also indicates that the central bank remains concerned about the high inflation rate in housing, even as inflation declines.
