GTA Lawyer Accused in $3M Real Estate Fraud; Trust Funds Missing

Brampton Lawyer Under Criminal Investigation in $3M Real Estate Fraud Case

A Brampton-based lawyer is facing serious allegations involving the misuse of trust funds in connection with real estate transactions, according to Peel Regional Police.

The investigation focuses on Pawanjeet Mann, a lawyer operating out of PJ Mann Law located at 214-5 Brisdale Drive in Brampton. Between July and August of this year, multiple complaints were submitted to police regarding Mann’s handling of client trust accounts.

Complainants told investigators they suffered financial losses exceeding $3 million due to Mann’s actions. Police confirmed this week that a criminal investigation is now underway.

Less than a month ago, the Law Society of Ontario revoked Mann’s license to practice law. A tribunal in July found that Mann had “knowingly assisted in fraud or dishonesty” during two property transactions and had “attempted to mislead the Law Society during its investigation.”

In addition to losing his license, Mann was fined $24,000.

Authorities are asking anyone with knowledge about this case or PJ Mann Law to contact investigators. As of publication time, neither Mann nor his law firm have responded to media inquiries.

AiF Insight:
Recent fraud cases involving legal professionals have raised serious concerns. Even in highly regulated industries, there can be individuals who abuse their credentials to deceive the public. We urge everyone to stay vigilant when engaging in any financial transaction. Always verify the background and credentials of professionals and organizations—titles alone are not proof of trustworthiness. Before signing agreements or transferring funds, ensure the process is transparent and properly regulated. Protecting your financial interests starts with choosing reputable, compliant institutions.
